Philip E Scott. Mechanical Engineer senior project level.
HVAC & Refrigeration Engineering and Construction. Semi-retired, available cost effectively, temp., by telecommute.
Large projects or just a brief telephone conversation.
Ultra Low temperature and Industrial specialties.
Projects world wide,
50 years experience !
• I’ve taken pains to learn and practice at least one new technical aspect each day.
• In 50 years that’s 18,000 more things than what most clients ask for when seeking someone with 2 to 5 years experience.
• Do you think the difference in capability and performance will make you and your firm look better or worse to your client?
Note to shops and recruiters: It is fast becoming a telecommute world. Filling short term assignments has always been a problem. I will produce what’s needed immediately… then you can add your margin, and bill the client…. ** No compensation required unless the client is way more than just happy.
• A bullet proof guarantee.
Benefits:
- Instant gratification for your client.
- My work is always impressive, see samples on my web site PhilScott.net
- No wait at all to get started. I call the client within the hour. Send my preliminary overview and preliminary CAD work that same day.
- Your mark-up can exceed industry norms.
- You can use me as a place holder while you or your client searches for a full time or longer term contractor.
• There is no downside. I can add in travel to the client’s office and job sites as necessary. Reduces the clients net project costs dramatically.
Lands projects, and establishes new relationships.
• I offer many ways for engineering firms, individual engineers, owners and contractors to improve their, sales, competitiveness and bottom line, Payment only on receipt of acceptable work… that’s your guarantee.

Research and development projects for Lawrence Livermore National Radiation Labs. (UC Berkley) two years, Cray computer cooling, Neutrino Mass experiment, fusion energy labs, and other work, classified.. 1980/ 82 time frame. Developed the air lens, 4 minute pressurized hot gas defrost strategy,
History, over view:
My 16 page resume has been on file with most engineering job shops for 20 years, two copies mailed per year if you need more detail. I’ve completed projects for at least 30 different shops in that time frame, many on repeat contracts.
1959 1964 college and paid chemistry lab work on occasion. Work for various HVAC and Refrigeration contractors. KA Sturges in Sacramento, Calif.
1964-1974 Owner of Thompson Refrigeration and AC in Lodi California, expanded that to larger agricultural and wine industry refrigeration. 4 employees. Sold it for 50,000 dollars. Clients: Gallo Wineries, Various fruit and meat packers, grocery store chains. restaurants and hotels.
1974- 1989 President of P Scott Inc. Design build HVAC and Refrigeration contractor in Los Angeles, 26 staff, projects for major aerospace companies in the area, and fish processor ships on the west coast, Hawaii and the South Pacific. General Dynamics, large scale HVAC for cuise missile fabrication, Cooling tower rebuilding, Computer room cooling. Northrup Air craft, Standard oil. Indo Pacific Fisheries, Marine refrigeration. Sold that in 1989, various options.
1989-1998 Consulting nationally, some on my own paper, much of it on contract through agencies such as Volt, Butler, Aerotech and others nationally. Aerospace, Petrochemical, food processing, nuclear and other weapons labs. Dozens of clients, Texas Instruments, IBM, US Dept of Energy, Jacobs, GM, Fluor are typical.. many repeat contracts for both agencies and the client firms.(full list and description is 24 pages going back 50 years)
Testimony before the US congress 1994/95. Available in the congressional record (nuclear facility HVAC, radioactive particle containment issues).
1998 to present. Traveling and working 20 to 60 hours a week for a range of old and new clients in my specialty areas, on line, by telecommute and on job sites. Typical 100 to 500 tons and larger HVAC and Refrigeration systems… New construction, design, engineering, competitive value engineering and strategy, remediation, and training. On-line consulting.
I do a lot of work for Nielson Mechanical Contractors in Fairfield California… and have helped with hundreds of contractor and engineering firm issues on line.. from small systems to major ones into the thousands of tons for others. www.engineered-systems.org/NielsonMechanical.html 1997 to present.
Energy Management
I can save large HVAC and refrigeration systems owners a lot of money, I work with various utility companies, manufacturers and my own patented strategies to achieve those ends.
I have written computer algorithms for heavy industrial market applications as a consultant to Southern California Edison Company (major Southern California electric utility).. 1990.
Several trade magazine articles published, Frozen Foods, CE Weekly and others.
Range of skill sets and licensing:
HVAC and Refrigeration all types.. 5 tons to thousands of tons, freon and ammonia, CO2 etc. specializing in larger more complex systems. Including the full range of controls systems skills… DDC, pneumatic and hybids of all sorts.
State of California licensed for full engineering, design and construction. Transferrable to many but not all other states. PE for PhilipScott Contract Services, California.
Boilers of all types and sizes, unlimited, Licensed for engineering, design and construction of these systems. State of California licensed for full engineering, design and construction. Transferrable to many but not all other states.
Electrical. State of California licensed for full engineering, design and construction, unlimited. Transferrable to many but not all other states. PE for Philip Scott Contract Services.
• Note: This is 5 times the licensed range of skill sets usually seen an applicant and I can do the math. A person cannot actually think and be rational with his claimed skill set unless he can do the math personally. Reliance on computers alone depletes those skill sets.
Composite, very effective approaches to large scale energy management and cost reduction,. Not the usual black box or single aspect approach such as inverter motors, peak shaving or cogeneration alone for instance.
CAD skills… demonstrated on my web site, www.philscott.net. Am capable to my needs in Auto CAD, various versions and Inventor through 2008, Solid Edge 2010, Solid Works, Turbo CAD v17pro.. can translate my work to most other formats as required. .I am not a CAD only specialist though.
Benefits.
- Leading edge or better results. Graphics, and systems design options that will boost your sales.
- Inter-discipline systems integration… not teachable in school, learned only by broad experience.
- Cost effective multi discipline engineering, thirty to fifty percent under the market
- Problem project turn around, problem resolution when all else fails. Extensive hands on skills with the instruments as necessary for the US DOE, IBM, and others on those issues.
